A beach wedding can be a tricky one to dress for, especially when it comes to striking a good balance between fun and formal. You may be tempted by shorts and flip flops, but you’ll probably regret it once you’ve seen the photographs.

Groom, John came to us looking for a modern suit for a relaxed wedding taking place at the 4 star St Ives Harbour Hotel & Spa in the beautiful Cornish seaside town of St Ives.

Although the weather wasn’t guaranteed, the suit had to be light enough to wear all day and comfortable for heading down to the beach in for photographs – therefore a traditional morning suit was out!

An obvious choice for us was this slim fit, wool and mohair lounge suit, in airforce blue by Wilvorst.

A timeless choice of fabric, the material was light to wear and soft to touch, which turned out to be vital with high temperatures and sunshine, which lasted all day.

A bold turquoise tie complemented the blue in the suit magnificently, and also reflected the groom’s fun personality and the turquoise waters which acted as a backdrop for the ceremony.

As someone who takes his fashion seriously, we opted for one of favourite current trends – brown leather shoes, instead of the traditional black.

All four groomsmen, including John’s brother, and soon to be brother and father-in-law, wore matching outfits, bringing both sides of the family together on the day.
